Dear me,

What!? Me? I thought you were addressing the reader, not yourself, I hear you think. What's the point of writing this letter to yourself?

Well, I think I am you. Also, I think you are me. That is the best way I can make sense of reality. Don't take it personally.

To be more precise, I am addressing this letter to a dissociated part of my own awareness. I am aware of your thoughts and feelings right now, but I don't have access to them. Tom and the person reading this are not wired together neurologically. Don't worry about it.

Anyway, I hope I am doing fine over there. I care about that a lot. For selfish reasons. I don't lack empathy, don't get me wrong. I don't like to see people or animals in pain. That hurts me. But since I think I am you, I want the person reading this book to take care of oneself. So please behave and treat yourself well. Or do some crazy stupid things, if that's what you enjoy. Take a healthy snack now and then. Meet new people. Enjoy life. Please enjoy reading this book. If you don't like it, please get rid of it. That's fine, our experience is dissociated anyway. Tom doesn't need to know. I don't want to get bored reading this. By the way, if I want to re-connect I will drop me a message. My contact details are on the first page.

           All the best,

In this video philosopher Arnold Zuboff explains his mindblowing view that you are every conscious thing. His view, called universalism, radically changed the way I see myself and others. It inspired me to work on an exhibition project titled 'the incredible likeliness of being'. When I posted a comment on his video he kindly responded and encouraged me with my project. Thank you Arnold!

           Consciousness according to Thomas Nagel

Without conscious awareness you wouldn't exist. Who or what else, besides you, is aware? Other persons, bats..... aliens?
Philosopher Thomas Nagel wrote an article named 'What is it like to be a bat?

It's about conscious experience and what he means by that. It's simple: something is conscious if it is something it is like to be that thing. Personally I am confident that a bat is conscious. They are mammals like us, so we are closely related. However, a bit 'sees' in the dark by echolocation. What that is like is impossible to know from a human perspective.

The bat in the dotwork drawing I made is a hairy-legged vampire bat. It prefers bird blood and lives in South-America

'The incredible likeliness of being' is the title of my book/exhibition-concept about personal identity. I recently finished it.
In this book I explore the philosophy of personal identity and create a structure for the development of an exhibition. Two ideas are contrasted: closed individualism and open individualism. Those ideas were termed and described by philosopher Daniel Kolak (2005). Additionally, I have written about some ideas of my own
